Thank battles between civilians. Is it possible?

Very surprising idea, however, as Antoshin mentioned, Georgia now is full of weapon, including abandoned tanks.

As a result of chaotic retreat of Georgian army a lot of weapon (not only Kalashnikovs, but even tanks!) is free to pick it up! And a lot of angry civilians – osetian and georgian have a chance to use it now.

Is any way to avoid a new ethnical violence without the presence of Russian army? What’s the condition of Georgian army now ? It looks that it was seriously damage and it lost a lot of tanks and artillery.

If tank battles between civilians will start, how to maintain a peacekeeping process?

Was anything like this before in the history of peacekeeping?

Will Russia support independence of Soth Osetia and Abkhazia?

Dmitrii Medvedev (president of Russian Federation) has met Edward Kokoity (president of South Osetia) ans Sergei Bagapsh (president of Abkhazia) in Kremlin.

During discussion President Medvedev has said that Russia will support any decision of Abkhazian and south-osetian people about the status of they countries. Because those republics already had referendum of independence and people voted for the independence, practically that means that Russia will support independenc of Soth Osetia and Abkhazia.

Reference:

http://news.mail.ru/politics/1945645

(russian)

Today, 11.26 (Moscow time)

And similar information on dni.ru

http://www.dni.ru/polit/2008/8/14/147337.html
(russian)

Today, 14.23

However, dni.ru does not emphasize that Russia will support independence of those countries. And also dni.ru mentioned that Medvedev signed the project that was proposed by Russia and France, and paragraph 6 in this project says that “status of unrecognised republics will be appointed by the International Community ”

Similar information on ITAR-TASS

http://www.itar-tass.com/eng/level2.html?NewsID=12963320&PageNum=0

(english)

It is still early to be sure, but it looks that Russia will support Independent Status of Abkhazia and South Osetia.

Recognition of Kosovo independence was a first precedent. Now our “Post-Kosovo” Wold is going to the big possible troubles. A lot of Countries has separatists problems, not only Georgia: USA, Canada, Russia, France, UK, Spain, Ukraine, Cyprus, Turkey, Belgium, but especially European countries.

It is sad to admit, but post-WWII system of European stability is going to the end soon.

First step to the resurrection of Tasmanian tiger.

Last animal died at 1936 in one of the Tasmanian Zoo (Tasmania is a bg island,it belongs to Australia). A. Pask from University of Australia and his American colleagues prepated a DNA from the 100 years old alcohol-preserved Tasmanian tiger from Museum Victoria in Melbourne.

Biologists managed to create gene-modified mice with the Tasmanian tiger gene called Col2a1 , which regulates the development of cartilage and bone. This extinct gene works even in mouse. This is the first time DNA from an extinct animal has been shown to have a function in another animal.

However, it is so early to think about resurrection of whole animal, it is just one gene for now.

Reference:

1) Tasmanian tiger gene lives again. Functioning gene of extinct animal gives hope for studying long-lost species.
